FORERUNNER WORKING WITH PROFESSIONAL CARERS

Delivering hot, home cooked meals to the Bournemouth community since 1994 Forerunner work closely with health care professionals, social services, elderly support organisations and voluntary carers to ensure that elderly and convalescing people get more than just a meal. We continue to develop a strong network throughout the local area to ensure that we are aware of local initiatives that would benefit our customers and their families. We work in partnership to provide meal delivery services to help take some of the pressure away from carers and families. There are many meals on wheels companies to choose from, however Forerunner has several distinct advantages over other home delivered meals services. “After my mother came out of hospital it was a great relief to know she was being fed properly every day" Sarah Jenkins, Daughter of Customer Local Community Based Service Forerunner has served the Bournemouth community for over 12 years and we take our role of serving the elderly community seriously. We aim to get involved with the community and to give something back. We work closely with support groups, care organisations and professional carers to ensure we know what is happening in the community and share this with our customers Freshly Cooked Traditional Meals The majority of meals on wheels services provide mass produced frozen meals that need to be re-heated – or they reheat them themselves and deliver hot. Forerunner cooks traditional meals using fresh seasonal local produce in our local kitchens on the morning of delivery. Daily Choice and Nutrition Our menu changes every month and offers a different meal every day, as well as a choice of 17 other meals and specials. We also cater to personal tastes and special diets which ensures that customers are eating a meal they have chosen with vital nutrients every day, providing a healthy balanced diet. Security At Forerunner we put the welfare and safety of our customers first. Our drivers are all retired members of the local community and many of them have been delivering hot meals to customers for years. Every driver is police checked and wear the distinctive red Forerunner uniform that is easily identified when the door bell rings. Safety Having one of our friendly drivers visiting each day is reassuring for our customers and their families. Our drivers are often first on the scene to help with a variety of incidents and accidents. We will always notify a next of kin or carer should we have any concerns about a customer. Over the years we have called ambulances and have helped many customers out of difficult situations.
